I am so thrilled with how well our newly planted container rose bushes are doing! Unfortunately, considering the timing of this flush of blooms, its not likely that there will be many for Christmas Day itself. Still, its a lovely treat to walk out of my back door every morning and be greeted by such beauty :)

Ummmmm......
Friday, I finally found the time to tidy up my desk for the first time in a couple of weeks. While returning everything to it again after having given the surface a thorough polishing, I was kind of amused to note the titles of the books I always keep close at hand. I guess, they’re a pretty good sampling of where my interest’s lie at any given moment.

So what have I been doing for the passed three months? Aside from organizing and working around the schedules of four people, running and maintaining a home and garden, handling accounts, running errands, discovering the thrill of two wheels, and being the human that six pets look to, that is.

Why, making loads upon loads of felt confectionery for my client overseas of course :)

A pictorial guide follows behind the cut of how I've sorta, kinda, been staying out of mischief...for the most part anyhow ;)

In re-watching Desperate Housewives while working my way through the last items for what is increasingly starting to look like a defunct order, I can’t help but wish we lived in a similar society at times. One where front gardens are open to the road, children congregate on lawns and sidewalks to play and the women of the neighbourhood gather to catch up on the latest gossip and each other’s lives.

But that is not what this post is about...

We’re back! Tired, but all in one piece :) The easiest is probably for me to post separately for each of the three days we were away. Pics will follow once I’ve sorted through what we and those who rode with us, took.

Bikes loaded, tanks full and the open road before us... )

If a friend or relative makes a racist or homophobic remark, do you tend to confront them or let it slide? Are you more likely to confront them if it offends you directly or someone else who seems reluctant to speak up?

When it comes to racism and homophobia, two things I personally feel strongly about, I'll always speak up whether it offends me directly or not. I have little to no time for people that are that intolerant of others as to make snap judgments, snide remarks or exclusions based simply on the race or sexual orientation of another.

As if the 30% price hike of a month or so back on electricity wasn’t enough to strain household budgets. Our ‘dear’ national utility company, Eskom, have now won their appeal to further increase tariffs by a minimum of 45% per annum for the next three consecutive years.

Eskom electrocutes the nation's growth potential. )
